Seal Team X submitted to Apple Store

While it may appear we have been on the dark side of the moon we have been busy making the last few pages of Seal Team X: The Blood of Bin Laden.  Bin Laden seems to be a distant memory but our comic will make you forgot all about that- that is is the Apple Store lets us.  We should know something in about 2 weeks so we'll keep you posted.  The Seals were in the news lately-ironically is seems helicopters are the most dangerous place to be if your in the military.  Granted they we're fired upon and tragically we lost some of the best fighters in the military- but considering we spend over a trillion dollars per year on the military instead of investing in multibillion programs developing vapor wear its time the Pentagon start investing in basic programs like helicopter defense systems.  Radar and computer controlled gun systems could have prevented surface to air missiles from killing our elite fighting forces; however Korea seems to be the only country willing to invest in state of the art technology from  US defense contractors.

The Process of drawing a comic page. Pt. 2

Last time I showed you what you get when you take a general gesture drawing and build your way up to a soon to be comic page. Here's what we started with:

Next I mentioned how you can refine the scene even more & start to form more distinctive shapes.

Afterwards I started showing you the beginning of the detailing process. We left off with this:

You seen how the drawing has evolved with each step. In the detailing phase you pretty much finish what you started in the gesture phase. Your characters take complete shape and your environment has it's distinct look. With all that said check out the completed detailing phase. All this can be done in pencil then when you're sure it's how you want it to be you can ink it.

Pretty sick right? The detailing phase takes a bit of time but the end results are eye popping and eye plseasing. Remember if you're ever stuck on any part of the detailing process grab a reference to aide you. No one is telling you to be a pro & even Mr. Da Vinci used some visual aides. Keep drawing comic lovers and I hope these little segments helped you a bit. Next time you'll get some coloring love!

Be known as the person that kills the world’s evilest terrorist.
Miami, FL.  June 13, 2011. The White House may never reveal the identity of the Navy Seal who killed Osama Bin Laden, but a comic publishing company promises to immortalize one lucky auction winner as the man who pulls the trigger on the fatal shot.

“SEAL TEAM X”, a new digital comics series created by Hype Comics founder and CEO, Scott Ownbey, along with bestselling author, Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff, will offer an action-packed, blockbuster storyline that begins with that fateful raid on the Al Qaeda leader’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. An Ebay auction has been set up by Hype Comics to pick one winner, whose name an likeness will be used as the super soldier who shoots and kills the world’s most-hated terrorist leader

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be known as a real American hero,” says Ownbey, a five-year U.S. Navy Reserve veteran. “The auction winner will also receive a panel of original hand-drawn artwork with their character in action, proudly autographed by the original artist.”

“The pulse-pounding action of the Abbottabad mission is just the tip of the iceberg,” claims Nemcoff, whose book, “The Killing of Osama Bin Laden” became a fixture on Amazon’s top 100 non-fiction bestseller’s list. “When you learn the nature of what SEAL TEAM X does to protect the world from total Armageddon, it will blow your mind.”

The auction begins June 13th, 2011 and runs for 10 days  through June 23th. Hype has set the minimum starting bid at $99. “Anybody is welcome to bid,” states Ownbey. “The only requirement, due to pre-existing story considerations, is that the winning bidder be male.”

“SEAL TEAM X: The Blood of Bin Laden - Part 1” will be released in August as a digital comic book offered exclusively for the Kindle, Nook and iPad. Users of devices capable of running the free apps that read eBooks in those formats will also be able to download and read the entire SEAL TEAM X series, promises Ownbey.

In addition, Hype Comics has vowed to donate a portion of the sales proceeds from SEAL TEAM X to, a charity for disabled American Veterans. “Superheroes exist in comic books,” says Ownbey, “But let’s never lose sight that the men and women in uniform who serve this country are the real action heroes of this world.”

“Being immortalized as the one who killed Bin Laden is a dream come true for some guys,” notes Ownbey. “One proud comic book fan is going to get that chance.”

Hype comics will debut “Seal Team  X: The Blood of Bin Laden” in a new digital app that will allow readers to mash-up the storyline and share it with friends through email or Facebook.  “ This is a revolutionary concept and the first phase of what we plan on doing to take comic books to into the next generation.  We want to combine cutting edge artwork and storylines with the ability for readers to meet, share and mash-up interactive content.”

Navy Seal missing for over 30 days after Bin Laden raid

Check this video out to find out more!

Have you ever been interested in a comic pages development process?

Since we're oh so generous we'll let you in on how it looks. For now we'll start with some basics.

1st we start off with the initial idea of how the scene will look. Since this does not involve dialog boxes, the initial idea of the scene is laid down. Since it's just the beginning phase it doesn't need to be super detailed. Keep in mind there may be some changes.

Next after our gesture is complete we can start to refine the scene a bit more. You'll notice how some shapes evolved into more detailed figures.

Then the really fun part arrives, detailing! Here we refine the lines and give the characters more detail and life.

That's all your eyes get to see for now, but stay tuned because the next segment is coming Monday

Like our New Look? We do too!

It's just a small taste of the coolness that will follow! Speaking of follow, add us on twitter and Tumblr!!/sealteamx
